Delorean Memorablia
Quote from Gerald C Mooney on January 26, 2025, 5:19 pmMy name is Gerald C Mooney
I designed and managed the construction of the DeLorean Factory at Dunmurry Northern Ireland.
In June of last year, 2024, I visited the site of the DeLorean Factory at Dunmurry to witness the international gathering of DeLorean car owners.
My daughter had heard that a gathering was taking place and that the test track I had designed had been cleared of trees bushes and detritus to allow car owners to drive around the track.
She wished to treat me to a day out at the gathering,
It occurred to me that the visit might be an opportunity to sell some of the signed limited edition A3 presentation prints of my design drawings of the factory.
We arrived at the security gate to pay the entrance fee and the fee for driving around the test track.
The security man told my daughter that the gathering was oversubscribed and he had been instructed not to let anybody else enter the site.
My daughter told him that her daddy had designed the factory buildings and the test track.
The security man made a phone call and advised us that we were to have free access to the site and track and that arrangements had been made to drive me and my daughter around the test track.
To my great surprise I had become an instant celebrity feted by DeLorean car owners who wished to have their photograph taken with me.
I sold 3 sets of my drawings at £300 per set to an English an Irish and a Danish DeLorean car owner. (My memoirs had not been published at that time).
Some time later I was asked to be the guest speaker at a DeLorean car owners Convention in New Jersey in the Spring of 2025.
Lisburn City Museum has since acquired a set of the limited edition signed A3 presentation prints of my design drawings of the factory together with the 1st edition of my memoirs of the design and construction of the factory for their archives.
Should you know of anyone who may wish to purchase a set of these unique documents please let me know.
